Aptly titled “The Food Issue,” staff writers Kendall Ford, Shravya Nalla, and Grace Larson spotlight cultural food traditions, food inclusivity, and Jacksonville’s culinary identity. The issue also highlights Florida picnic essentials, restaurants owned by the families of Stanton’s students, the unique dietary habits of Stanton athletes, the intersection of food and art, and the search for the best boba tea in town.

“Inventing Reality” By Katya Sniriova

In this first issue of our 39th production year, staff writer Katya Sniriova spotlights the current trend among teenagers of embracing realities depicted and celebrated in media in the cover story “Inventing Reality.” Other stories in this issue highlight the importance of sports superstitions among Stanton athletes, the symbolism of the team uniform, the conversations surrounding women’s body hair, the increasing prevalence of representation for the disabled community in film and television, and how BeReal, the newest social media app, is revolutionizing how we connect.

In this fourth issue, we present an anthology of the student experience in adapting to the challenges presented to the school as a result of the pandemic. Staff writers Tatum Register, Ty'Hana Aldridge, and Jennifer Zheng highlight the challenges faced by virtual students returning to on-campus instruction, the mental health challenges experienced by students and teachers, and the school district's plans for the upcoming fall semester.
