Devil's Advocate wins Best Overall Newspaper Award for Third Year in a Row

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The twenty-two staff members of Stanton College Preparatory School’s student newspaper, Devil’s Advocate, received the Best Overall Newspaper award and the Best Digital Newsroom award on May 10 at The Florida Times-Union’s 2018 High School Journalism Awards ceremony.

This is the third year in a row and seventh time in nineteen years that the Devil's Advocate has received the Best Overall Newspaper award and the Henry A. Blumenthal trophy. The paper previously received the title and trophy in 2017, 2016, 2008, 2007, 2003, and 2001. In 2015 and 2014, the Devil’s Advocate received the top newspaper award in Division II. This was the first time in the history of the awards that a student newspaper was recognized for their digital media work.

Individual entries from nine area newspapers were submitted to the competition committee in April. Devil’s Advocate staff members and contributors captured 20 of the 30 individual awards, an impressive 67 percent of the individual awards given.
